It’s Never Too Late To Become What You Might Have Been!

When I was a kid growing up in Phoenix Az we had a huge Mulberry tree in our back yard.  It was so big that my brothers and I would climb as high into the tree as possible on windy days and sway back and forth with the branches, it was great.

There are both male and female Mulberry trees. Ours was a male but my neighbors had two female trees.  Those trees grow the mulberry fruit.  It looks kind of like a blackberry and tastes great.  However they make a huge mess on the ground and create a uniquely colorful problem with bird droppings.

Take On The Challenge

Success is the sum of small efforts, repeated day in and day out”…
Robert Collier

In my life I have, probably like you, had many dreams and goals.  Some I have achieved and others I missed.  When I look back at the goals I missed I can see a pattern. A very simple pattern.

I stopped. I didn’t continue to do the day to day things it takes to have success.  I don’t know if was from frustration, distraction, broad instead of laser focus or just plain being lazy.  In a sense I gave up on what I said I wanted.

I have enrolled in a 90 Day Challenge with some business partners.  We set the goals we want to achieve within those 90 days, set a game plan and some specific actions to take EVERY DAY and I have an accountability partner that is helping me to stay focused.

How Did I Get Off Course?

You know what they say: “The best laid plans of mice and men.”   I have been thinking about that more and more since my 49th birthday rolled around last month.

I had some BIG plans and dreams growing up.  When I was young (long before Guitar Hero) I was the master at playing an air guitar.  I knew one day I would be in a band, bright lights, screaming fans, the works.  It didn’t matter to me that I couldn’t play a real guitar or that my singing sounded like nails across a chalkboard.  In my head I WAS a rock star.

Failure Often comes Before Success part VI

Successful people rarely achieve success on the first attempt, or second or sometimes third.  More often than not, those who are remembered long after they are gone were faced with challenges that forced them to have more determination and work harder and longer than most others.  So, the next time you are feeling low and disappointed about your “failures” remember these people and know that the only way to be a true failure is to give up and quit.

Licensed Contractor vs Friend

Well just by the title you probably know where this is headed.

Being a small business owner myself I appreciate when my friends and family use my services, it makes me feel good and helps to grow my business.  So whenever possible I do the same thing.

That brings us to my story.  Back in August the lease on the rental house I was in was ending and we were about to buy a house.  I had hired a friend to clean the interior of the house when we moved out, there was a lot of work and they did a great job.  I also hired a friend to do some landscaping and yard cleanup (I won’t mention any names because many of you know her so I will just call her CC).
